* Smoking.
* Consume alcohol.
* Diet deficient.
* Certain medicines.
* Climate change, because the heat induces sweating, and the cold reduces the role of the sebaceous glands.

However, dry skin usually present with features that can be easily recognized:
* Roughness.
* Feeling of tension.
* Possible itching.
* Cracking.
* Tendency to irritation and inflammation.
